Hello fellow swimmers! It's been about a month since we kicked off the new season, making it the perfect time to assess our fitness levels and skill progress. Mark your calendars for our upcoming test set on Friday, September 29 at both campuses. During this session, we'll establish our performance benchmarks, providing us with valuable metrics to measure our progress and make meaningful improvements in our swimming skills.
To ensure you're well-prepared for the test set, please refer to the practices listed in our Training Tips below: Practice A if you're attending the 1.5-hour practice or Practice B if you're attending the 1-hour practice.
Looking for more consistent pacing? Check out the USMS Pace Chart. It will help you gauge where you currently stand and identify the paces required to reach your swimming goals:
As a reminder, we will have an intrasquad meet during our regular practice time on Saturday, October 28. This is a chance for you to compete with your teammates and have some fun!
We'll offer all 50s and 100s, a 200 freestyle, a 200 IM and stroke (will be done together), and a 500 freestyle. Stay tuned to our next newsletter for the registration link.
Support the Swim for the Future Scholarship Fund
On September 11, 2001, the AGUA Masters swimming community lost two cherished members — Andrew Fisher and Doug Irgang — in the devastating Twin Towers attack. From their tragedy, however, came a beacon of hope for hundreds of young New York City swimmers. In their memory, their families established the Swim for the Future scholarship fund, aimed at granting access to the AGUA Swim Team to athletes who otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity.
As we approach the 22nd anniversary of the foundation of Swim for the Future, we invite you to join us in making a difference. Consider a gift to the Swim for the Future scholarship fund if you haven't already, and help us empower a new generation of swimmers to experience the life-changing journey that competitive swimming offers.
Please note, these intervals are for short course yards but feel free to adjust as necessary. See refer to the above USMS Pace Chart for interval adjustments.
