From Asphalt Green Basketball — welcome to the second edition of AG Basketball's newsletter!

AAU tryouts just wrapped, and practice has officially begun! Whether your player is part of our competitive program, recreational leagues, or after-school programming across NYC, Asphalt Green is your basketball home!

In this monthly newsletter, you’ll find program updates, highlights, and key dates so you can plan, register and get game-ready.

ANNOUNCEMENTS, HIGHLIGHTS, & LOOKING AHEAD

• The AAU program wrapped up tryouts earlier this month with a record 270 participants!
• Congratulations to all 15 of our teams this season!
• We're thrilled to announce that we will be back at St. Lukes this year, ensuring our competitive athletes receive as much on-court development as possible.
• As an added feature this season, Coach Shirod will be running weekly player development sessions. 
• Led by our outstanding Community Programs Basketball Manager, David Rohn, Asphalt Green is providing free clinics at The Cooke School on Sundays for athletes ages 5-14. 
• Our recreational program started our new and exciting model this fall. All leagues will feature a skills segment, 3v3 games, and a 5v5 component.
• This October, our featured monthly individual and team skills are as follows:
  • Form shooting
  • Shooting off the dribble
  • Shooting in transition
  • Pick and roll
  • Shell defense ( half court)
  • Finding your opponent in transition
• We were thrilled to host our first annual Launch Party and Takeover event at the Washington Market Street courts this past Monday, October 29. Thank you to all that attended!
• Every Asphalt Green basketball coach across the program will be USA gold certified. 

UPCOMING DATES & EVENTS

• All October // Be on the lookout throughout our socials, as we drop the uniform preview and swag reveal!! 
  
• October 7 // Winter registration will open for all Family I & II membership holders for our recreational programming. Browse offerings.
• October 8 // 1st session from our Director of Player Development, Coach Shirod. All 4 of our girls teams will be attending! 
• October 14 // Winter registration will open for all membership holders and current fall 225 program users for our recreational programming. Browse offerings.
• October 18 (Weekend) // We will continue our relationship with Steady Buckets to provide additional competition for our AAU teams. Individual schedules will be sent to our teams directly from your head coach. 
• October 21 // Winter registration will open to the public for our recreational programming. Browse offerings.
• October 24 // Join us at Asphalt Screams uptown, Asphalt Green's annual, family friendly Halloween festival! Learn more & RSVP free.
• October 25 // Our 8th grade Boys national team will begin league play at the Hoops in the Sun!
