Welcome to the third edition of Asphalt Green Basketball's newsletter!

Whether your player is part of our competitive program, recreational leagues, or after-school programming across NYC, Asphalt Green is your basketball home.

In this monthly newsletter, you’ll find program updates, highlights, and key dates so you can plan, register and get game-ready.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & HIGHLIGHTS

• The AAU program began competition this month with our opening event at Basketball City!
• Congratulations to our 6th-grade Boys- National, 7th -grade Boys- Regional & 8th-grade Girls- National for championship showings!
• The program is also excited to officially announce our Winter league events!
• Please make sure to note our Player Development workout schedules run by coach Shirod! 
• Led by our outstanding Community Programs Basketball Manager, David Rohn, Asphalt Green is providing free clinics at The Cooke School and Roberto Clemente on Sundays for athletes ages 5-14. 
• Our recreational program started our new and exciting model this fall. All leagues will feature a skills segment, 3v3 games, and a 5v5 component.
• This November, our featured monthly individual and team skills are as follows:
  • Form shooting
  • Scoring from the wing ( 3 moves to help you score from the wing position) 
  • Shooting in transition
  • Time & Score ( what's a good shot vs a bad shot)
  • Shell defense ( half court)
  • Rebounding 
  • Finding your opponent in transition
• Every Asphalt Green basketball coach across the program will be USA gold certified.

• Winter League Circuit reveals
• Boys 6th & 8th grade- National will compete on the NXT Gen Hoop Group Circuit. Learn more.
• Boys 3rd-9th grade- Regional teams will be playing in the 55 Swish League at Basketball City.
• Girls 4th- 8th grade- Regional& National are competing in the Zero Gravity Winter league, as well as the Synergy Elite league.
• Boys 10th grade will be playing in Live City, as well as select b-ball shootout events.

LOOKING AHEAD

• November 8 and 9 // As a reminder, the entire program will be attending the Zero Gravity Grand Finale tournament in Westchester, NY this weekend. View schedule.
• November 12 // Our Girls 7th/8th grade team, along with friends, coaches and family will be attending the NY Knicks vs Orlando Magic game. Our athletes will get the opportunity to meet players pregame & play at halftime! We want to thank the Jr. Knicks for this outstanding experience! 
• November 17 // In partnership with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) we're thrilled to announce an informative night for our competitive team member families. The session will be geared towards Optimizing the Athlete's Edge, The balance between rest, recovery and play to prevent burnout with experts in the field. RVSP today!

REGISTER FOR WINTER BASKETBALL PROGRAMS

Winter registration is now open for all current 225 program users and interested families for our recreational programming. No matter your child's age or skill level, there's a place for every athlete on our courts.

• Inclusive: Everyone Plays Basketball (Ages 6-11)
